First man charged under deepfake laws avoids jail in SA

Adelaide man William Yeates, 20, the first charged under Australia's deepfake sexual material laws, got a suspended sentence for faking a teen's images.

The first person charged under Australia's deepfake pornography laws has been sentenced in Adelaide, and he won't spend a day in jail. He took a teenage girl's photos, turned them into fake sexual images with AI, and posted them online.
