Western Sydney Airport takes its first passenger flights

Western Sydney International opened to passengers on 25 October with Jetstar's JQ362 to the Gold Coast, 40 years after Badgerys Creek was chosen in 1986.

Forty years after Badgerys Creek was picked as the site for Sydney's second airport, a plane full of paying passengers has finally taken off from it. Jetstar flight JQ362 left Western Sydney International for the Gold Coast at 11:22am on Sunday, Sydney time, with 188 people on board.
