Bridging visa holders in Australia hit record 445,678

Home Affairs says 445,678 people held bridging visas on 30 September, the most since its records began in 2011. Student visa holders fell 13 per cent.

Close to 450,000 people are living in Australia on a visa that exists only to tide them over. The Department of Home Affairs now counts 445,678 bridging visa holders, the highest number in figures that go back to 2011.
