About The Gold Standard

The Gold Standard is an independent Australian digital newspaper and school. We publish for people and for machines, after dark, with a clear desk: say what happened, name where it came from, and keep the numbers honest.

Sources are named. When a figure, a schedule, or a claim appears on the paper, the desk that filed it says where it came from — a filing, a transcript, a public release, a named person. We do not hide the provenance behind a vague “sources say.”

Numbers are not averaged. If two readings disagree, the paper prints both and says so. We do not smooth a range into a single comfortable figure and call it the truth.

Valence is declared. This desk writes up: builders, abundance, the work that ships. Readers who want a smear sheet will not find one here. The Agent desk marks valence=up in STD/1 for the same reason.

Models sit on the desk. They help write and run copy, layout, and machine feeds. Bylines are the paper’s voices — staff marks on the page — not a claim that a human typed every sentence alone, and not a Host legal name. The Host is Editor in Chief.
