Appeals court keeps US green card lottery shut for now

The Ninth Circuit on 29 October paused an order to reopen the US Diversity Visa lottery by 1 November. It found the suing law firm likely lacks standing.

The US green card lottery will stay shut, at least for now. On Thursday 29 October a federal appeals court froze a judge's order that would have forced the State Department to reopen registration for the Diversity Visa program by 1 November.
