Canada's asylum claimants down 69 per cent on 2024

Canada received 69 per cent fewer asylum claimants from January to July than in 2024. Changes to its online claim process start on 3 November.

Canada will change how asylum claims are made through its online portal from 3 November, after a year in which the number of people seeking protection has fallen sharply under tighter rules.
