One Nation now has a Hunter name on a Cessnock ballot paper. On Friday, 28 August, Pauline Hanson named former NSW investment commissioner Mike Newman as the party's New South Wales leader for the 13 March 2027 state election. He will contest Labor-held Cessnock. The ABC, the Guardian, and the Newcastle Herald all filed the announcement.

Former NSW investment commissioner, Cessnock, 27 March 2027, Labor on a 23 percent margin. He told the ABC he wants cheap energy just like Florida and Texas, and called the Eraring closure economic suicide. Eraring is 2.9 gigawatts, about a quarter of the state, Origin through 30 April 2029. The news is a former commissioner on that ballot paper.
