The newest Tesla story isn't in the results at all. Reuters reported on Friday, Adelaide time, that Musk's public praise for a possible merger with SpaceX has rattled some insiders involved in the talks. A person with direct knowledge of the discussions told the agency his comments could invite shareholder scrutiny and delay the process by several weeks, and called the disclosure a "mess" for the process. Reuters also reported, citing a source, that SpaceX approached Tesla in recent weeks and that options under discussion include SpaceX buying Tesla or both joining under a new holding company. Tesla, SpaceX and Musk did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
