Tesla will inaugurate its dedicated Semi factory in Sparks, Nevada, on 24 September 2026 — an invite-only Semi Rollout marking the formal opening of the 1.7-million-square-foot plant designed for 50,000 trucks a year.

Volume production already started in April 2026 on the high-volume line. The $3.6 billion expansion beside Gigafactory Nevada is the build envelope. Dan Priestley has said production is now ramping. Megacharger marketing has claimed on the order of 70 percent of range in about 30 minutes.

Electrek, TeslaNorth, EVwire and Teslarati all filed the ceremony peg after the Tesla Semi account posted an inauguration graphic dated 24 September 2026. Sawyer Merritt shared invite language describing factory tours, Semi ride-alongs, food, a plus-one, RSVPs due in early September Pacific time, ID checks and a 21-and-over gate. Invite-only is the format. Ribbon-cutting five months into volume production is the timing twist relative to how Tesla has often treated first-unit moments at other plants.

29 April 2026 remains the volume-line milestone. Electrek reported the first Semi off the high-volume production line then, after years of pilot builds and a long wait from the 2017 unveil. The 24 September event doesn't rewind that clock. It adds a formal opening day for guests who weren't on the April shop-floor tour. Ceremony after start of production is the news shape here.

Factory nouns. Sparks, Nevada, adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada. About 1.7 million square feet — roughly 158,000 square metres — in dedicated Semi space. Design capacity 50,000 trucks per year at full ramp. Part of a $3.6 billion expansion Tesla announced in early 2023. Cell supply on the same broader site is the industrial logic for parking the truck plant next to battery output after years of pack and cell bottlenecks delayed the programme.

Priestley's ramp language matters because nameplate isn't run rate. Semi programme director Dan Priestley has said production is now ramping rather than claiming the line already sits at 50,000-a-year output. Analyst delivery guesses for 2026 in secondary coverage span wide bands well below nameplate; Tesla hasn't published a volume guidance figure for the year. Ramp is the verb on the record. Ceiling is the design number on the building.

Megacharger claims need attribution care. Tesla has marketed Semi charging on the order of 70 percent of range in about 30 minutes at megawatt-class power, with demonstration video of roughly 1.2 megawatts on V4 cabinet architecture in late-2025 Electrek coverage. Some later explainers note website copy shifting toward about 60 percent in 30 minutes. Report the claim as a claim, note when coverage cites a revision, and don't treat either percentage as an independent stopwatch test run beside the Sparks line.

The peg here is the 24 September inauguration and Rollout invite, not the April first-truck moment alone. Ceremony date is the hook. Tours and ride-alongs are the guest experience described on the invite. Ramp and Megacharger are the product context guests will hear on the microphone if the day runs as invited.

European colour sits one week earlier on the calendar. IAA Transportation in Hannover runs mid-September; coverage notes Tesla planning European Semi specs and launch details there before the Nevada party. That's a separate market story. Mention it only as schedule adjacency, not as a substitute for Sparks facts on the twenty-fourth or as proof of European deliveries that haven't been tallied here.

What guests are not. The invite trail says confirmed attendees get follow-ups, IDs checked, under-21 refused, entry deniable. It isn't a public open day and it isn't a media free-for-all. Journalists without invites shouldn't invent floor access. The newsable facts remain the date, the plant specs, the April volume start and Priestley's ramp quote as carried in the trade press.

Nine years from 2017 unveil to a 2026 inauguration week is the patience tax on this programme. Pilot PepsiCo units, mass cuts reported on the production design, Standard Range and Long Range trims with range figures Tesla has published on U.S. customer pages — keep Tesla's own labelled figures adjacent when you convert so readers aren't lost between statute miles and kilometres. The ceremony is how Tesla resets the public story onto the Sparks ramp after the quiet April start.

Factory specs deserve one more pass in fleet language. The dedicated Semi hall in Sparks sits adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada inside the $3.6 billion expansion envelope Tesla announced in early 2023. About 1.7 million square feet — roughly 158,000 square metres — is the dedicated Semi footprint Electrek and sibling trade desks repeat with the inauguration graphic. Design capacity is 50,000 trucks a year at full ramp. Hiring for that ramp started in early 2025 on Electrek's build-out timeline. Vertical integration is the site pitch: truck manufacturing under one roof, cell and pack supply next door at the Gigafactory after years when battery bottlenecks delayed the programme. Nameplate still isn't today's run rate. Dan Priestley's public verb remains ramp. Analyst delivery bands for 2026 in secondary coverage sit well below the 50,000 ceiling.

Megacharger is the break-window story fleets will hear on the microphone. Tesla has marketed Semi charging on the order of 70 percent of range in about 30 minutes at megawatt-class power. Late-2025 Electrek coverage carried demonstration video of roughly 1.2 megawatts on V4 cabinet architecture. Some later explainers note website copy shifting toward about 60 percent in 30 minutes. Report both as attributed claims, not as a stopwatch run beside the Sparks line. Production trims already on Tesla's U.S. customer pages split Standard Range at about 325 miles — roughly 523 kilometres — and Long Range at about 500 miles — about 805 kilometres. Both trims share an 800 kW three-motor powertrain and Megacharger support on the Electrek factory write-ups that travelled with the inauguration post. Energy use on Tesla's published sheet has sat near 1.7 kilowatt-hours per mile in production-spec updates tracked earlier in 2026. Those are the product nouns guests can check against Tesla's own labelled figures.

PepsiCo and the Semi programme's long calendar are the patience tax under the ribbon. Tesla unveiled the Semi in 2017 with a 2019 production target. Hand-built pilot units reached PepsiCo in 2022. Mass cuts on the production design and years of pilot builds filled the gap before Electrek reported the first Semi off the high-volume Sparks line on 29 April 2026. Real volume production at the dedicated Nevada plant is a 2026 story; the 24 September inauguration is the ceremonial open five months later. Electrek's own read of that timing called an inauguration months after start of production unusual — and fitting for a programme that spent nine years getting from unveil to a Sparks Rollout invite. Pilot fleets already know the truck's shape. What Sparks adds is the dedicated floor sized for the 50,000-a-year design. What Priestley adds is honesty that ramp is still the verb. What Megacharger marketing adds is a claimed thirty-minute restore fraction fleets can price against diesel break times, with the 70 percent and 60 percent website variants kept clearly attributed.

Class 8 context in one plain paragraph. The Semi is an electric tractor aiming at regional and long-haul routes where diesel still dominates tonne-kilometres. Volume production in Nevada is the industrial answer Tesla spent years building. Charging networks and customer duty cycles will decide whether 50,000-a-year design capacity ever becomes a lived run rate. The inauguration doesn't settle that economics question; it stages the factory that must.

Area as stated: 1.7 million square feet — roughly 158,000 square metres. Dollars for the expansion envelope. Truck counts per year as design capacity. Charging claims in percent and minutes as Tesla stated them. Megawatts for the demonstration peak as Electrek reported. Plant headcount stays with Electrek's hiring-ramp colour from the build-out years — no fresh inventing here.

Electrek's 24 August 2026 inauguration report and April volume-line report, TeslaNorth invite details, EVwire and Teslarati ceremony explainers, and Tesla Semi account graphics as quoted in those pieces carry the date and invite language. Primary invite wording and Tesla posts beat secondary paraphrase when the two diverge.

Nevada Semi ceremony on the twenty-fourth. Sparks. 1.7 million square feet. 50,000-a-year design. $3.6 billion expansion envelope. Volume line live since April. Priestley on ramp. Megacharger percent-in-thirty-minutes claims attributed as claims. Invite-only Rollout. That's the peg.

After the speeches, the story returns to line balance, cell feed and customer deliveries. A ceremony doesn't finish a ramp. It marks one. Twenty-four September is the mark Tesla put on the calendar for Sparks, and the trucks still have to roll for the mark to mean anything past the invite list and the photographs.
