Victoria Police warn of AI fake-doctor gift card scam

Victoria Police say scammers clone doctors' voices with AI to push Mandarin speakers into buying gift cards. One victim lost $50,000.

Victoria Police have warned the state's Mandarin-speaking community about scammers who use artificial intelligence to clone doctors' voices and then pressure victims into buying gift cards. One victim lost $50,000. Another lost $40,000.
