Immigration detention rises to 1,245 in August

Home Affairs says 1,245 people were in immigration detention at the end of August, up 132 on a year ago. Most held in facilities have a criminal history.

The number of people in immigration detention rose to 1,245 at the end of August, according to Department of Home Affairs figures released on Thursday, 8 October.
