Unemployment hits 4.7% as 39,300 fewer Australians work

ABS figures show unemployment at 4.7% in September. Employment fell 39,300, participation slipped to 66.8% and underemployment rose to 6.3%.

Australia's unemployment rate was 4.7 per cent in September, and 39,300 fewer people had a job than in August. That's the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Labour Force release for the month, out at 11am Adelaide time on Thursday.
