Early works on Melbourne Airport Rail's 7.4 km Stage 2 line to a new Keilor East station start within weeks. Trains are due there in 2031.

Melbourne Airport Rail is moving on to its second stage. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Victorian Premier Ben Carroll said on Wednesday 30 September that work on Stage 2 will begin in the coming weeks. It starts with site investigations, procurement and development works on a new 7.4-kilometre line from Albion to a new station at Keilor East.
