ProxyJump (ssh -J bastion target) opens a jump via an intermediate host.

Config: Host target / ProxyJump bastion keeps it automatic.

Keys/auth must succeed on each hop as configured.

Prefer ProxyJump over older ProxyCommand nc hacks when possible.

Bastions should be hardened — they see your path into the network.
