Nobody likes thinking about it, but your phone holds a lot your family would want one day: decades of photos, messages, notes and documents. Without a plan, getting at them after you die can be slow and sometimes impossible. Apple and Google both have free tools that let you choose, in advance, who gets access. Neither takes long to set up.
