How to move to a new phone and wipe the old one

Switching phones used to mean a weekend of reinstalling apps and losing half your messages. It's much smoother now, if you use the tools Apple and Google build in. There's a new wrinkle this year, too. Apple's Move from Android page says that if you have a supported Android device running a compatible version of Android 17, you can transfer to an iPhone without installing Apple's Move to iOS app at all.
