The federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount is about to shrink again. Under the Clean Energy Regulator's published schedule, the number of certificates a home battery earns for each kilowatt hour of usable capacity drops from 6.8 to 5.7 on 1 January 2027. By our calculation from the regulator's figures, a battery with 10 kWh of usable capacity earns about 68 certificates if it's installed this year and about 57 if it's installed in January. Then it keeps falling every six months until the scheme ends in 2030.
