Home Affairs cancelled 779 visas on character grounds

Character cancellations fell 19 per cent last financial year. Drug, assault and child sex offences were the leading reasons, Home Affairs figures show.

The Department of Home Affairs cancelled 779 visas on character grounds in 2025-26, according to new figures published on its website on 29 September.
