AMD to buy Fei-Fei Li's World Labs for about US$8.2 billion

AMD has agreed to buy World Labs, the San Francisco spatial-intelligence lab run by AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li. It's an all-stock deal worth about US$8.2 billion. AMD's newsroom and World Labs both posted the news of the definitive agreement on 28 September 2026. The companies want it closed by the end of 2026, once regulators and the other usual conditions sign off.
